| Info for Ordering
a New Head |
| We need to know the year and model of the BMW
you are ordering parts for. Is it a USA or Euro model, a manual or automatic
transmission? Does it have air conditioning? When ordering a major product
from Metric Mechanic, it is good to give us prior notice of your purchase
(pre-order); and, we can assist you in your shipping arrangments. ORDERING
1. When ordering a head, please call first to place a pre-order. This
gets the details and cost of your job worked out and helps us keep our
scheduling under control.
2. We prefer to use the customer's head when building a HiFlo ST/ Sport
Head. We prefer not to do exchanges because the customer feels as if
he has purchased someone else's problems when something goes wrong.
When we do your head, you have examined it previously and you know what
you have.
SHIPPING
Once your head is removed, please leave it assembled & ship it
to us with the front cover so that we can surface the head with the
front cover attached. Place the head within two garbage bags and then
"float" it in a box using something like Styrofoam peanuts
or newspaper. Enclose the certified check in an envelope inside the
box or give us a Credit Card number over the phone. Sorry, no personal
or company checks.
RECEIVING
Once we receive your head "core", it takes us about 4-6 days
to get the finished job back to you. Normally, total turn around time
is 8-10 days with 12 days being about the worst. When the head is shipped
to you, it is bolted to a board with spacers to protect the valves.
When you receive the head, it is important that you don't lay the head
face down on a table. The valves protrude from the surface of the head
and can get bent just from the weight of the head. So, lay it on the
top or sides, before installation.
HEADS-FIVE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Metric Mechanic HiFlo ST heads are not warranteed against head cracking
or bent valves. All heads, before they leave Metric Mechanic, have been
thoroughly tested for compression leakage. The valves are well protected
during shipping and so we take no responsibility for bent valves. WARNING:
This head should not be installed on a high mileage engine (100,000
miles or more) or an engine with high oil consumption (more than one
quart of oil in 1500 miles). Metric Mechanic HiFlo ST/Sport Heads carry
a conditional warranty against defects in parts and workmanship for
90 days. We will assess any problem occurring after 90 days up to 5
years and charge according to the damages. This charge will generally
not exceed 75% of the current price of the head (cracked heads excluded).
This warranty does not cover any costs to the customer incurred after
the product has left Metric Mechanic; such as installation, shipping
and handling, towing car rentals, motels, baby sitters, movies etc.purchase.
